"Ten minutes and I will
be out."
Judith checked her watch as
she entered the mall. "Thank
God! It's just three people." She
ran and joined the line behind the three men,
Ten minutes. "Why is
this line not moving." She checked her watch, five minutes more.
"Why are you not moving?
Look, the opposite line, people are going in."
No response.
"You could at least
acknowledge my comment with a nod."
No response.
People were beginning to
stare at her.
"Hey don't just stand
there, move in Mr."
People were really beginning
to stare.
"I don't have time for
such rudeness"
She marched to the front of
the men and stamped her feet there, determined to enter after the next person
on the other line.
She turned to the people
staring "What!?" A lady walked up to her
"Honey, who are you
arguing with? ."
"What do you mean. These
rude men!" Judith squared on the men behind her, ready to launch a speech
on respect. For the first time, she noticed the shiny wooden face of the men
and their pencil drawn eyes. The words
died in her throat.
She clutched her bag and
tip-toed out.
